FitDarcie of Parties Past
I had started writing a nasty comment back to ZR and JR to my post the other day about how some guy at some party said I don’t smile. ZR and JR both said that I should smile more. JR…really??? At least ZR has seen me before, but you’re taking the side of the guy who called me bitter…I smile when it’s appropriate…when I’m either happy, or someone makes me laugh. I see no need whatsoever to smile when I don’t feel it. Trust me, I am well aware of the effects my smile has on a room. I have an amazing smile. It lights up my face and gives me a warm look. And I am happy a lot of the time, so I do pull it out frequently.
I decided to go through my Facebook and come up with photos of me from parties past to prove it. I am a happy drunk.
1) Comparing arms. This photo was also featured in a post I did about how I was losing my place in society.
Laughing hysterically at Darren Rowse from Problogger. He must have said something amazing.
With bestie Franca. She’s going to kill me for posting this.
Some guy in a bar making a move on me. Still smiling, though kinda looking grossed out.
Catching a bouquet at a wedding. A lot of good that did me.
With my bro at my sis’ wedding.
Riders winning the Grey Cup. Woo hoo! Like my green eye shadow?
Laying on a blue mannequin in a suitcase in a restaurant in Vegas. Stilllll smiling.
With my arms around a pair of twins.
Telling all you assholes that I need to smile more to fuck off.
Moral of the story? You want me to smile…say something that makes me. It can’t be hard, a mannequin in a suitcase did it.

Hey, I’m just going by the information that I have available to me. Obviously, I wasn’t there, but you’re the one who said that some guy said you looked bitter @ the party, and that you were taking his comments seriously. And then some other guy who says that he was also @ the party, and thought you looked bitter, and weren’t smiling. So, there ya go.

Forgiven. I wonder who ZR was.

Nice pics Darcie. One complaint of this blog has been the lack of pictures. I enjoy pictures. I enjoy pictures of boobs. I like short choppy sentences. I’m having Thai for lunch. Today is friday. Go Riders.

I don’t see how these pictures make your case. The observation here, from two sources who saw you, is that you were not smiling, and bascially gave off an unfriendly (”bitter”) vibe, at that one particular event. And you took the initial observation seriously enough to blog about it, which lends further credence to the notion that it is true. Posting a bunch of unrelated pictures of you smiling, in the past, at different events, does nothing to repute the observation of those who saw you at this one event.

Thanks Teenwolf. Your insightful comments mean so much to me.
@Jason. Good point. But I had nothing else to write today.

I’ve known Darcie (in real life, not on-line) for about 6 years… she smiles when she is having fun… maybe she just wasn’t having fun at that party…

That’s what I’ve been trying to say. It wasn’t a bad party…it was decent…but it didn’t blow my mind.

Yes you do ave an electric, infectious smile.
I remember being a bartender and getting the same line on occasion about not smiling enough. I told them the same thing, I smile when appropriate. Walking around with a perma-smile means people think you take the short bus.

hhaha, exactly. Though, when I was competing, I had a smile coach, so I’ve technically been trained on smiling. My fake smile is creepy though.

@ Darcie: Then what was the point of that last blog? You’re the one who wrote a blog, saying that you’re worried because some stranger said you looked bitter, and you wanted to know how to un-bitter yourself. And now you’re getting all defensive, saying people are mis-judging you for calling you bitter. I think that was JR’s point in the first place! Who care what some stranger thinks? But you brought it up!

Oh Jason. I know you’re new here…what you should know is that I contradict myself all the time. Somedays I take what other people say seriously, sometimes I bite their heads off, sometimes I don’t give a shit.

I did not know that my innocent comment would snowball into such a calamity. In case you missed, I called you radiant and intelligent as well. You picked up on bitter. I just provided a simple cold reading and you reflected yourself in it. Ciao…

I have seen Darcy smile many times…. often with me it’s when she’s being sarcastic “You’re funny Ryan”… or, “good one”.
