It’ll Happen When It’s Least Expected

I hate it when people say that. I’ll tell people about my recent dates, and they think that I’m either discouraged about it, or depressed. So they say ‘It’ll happen when you least expect it.’ Really? Will it? So there is no point in dating then because I will meet my future husband in the subway or grocery store?

Actually what we’re saying is don’t go out, don’t buy groceries, don’t do laundry. Cause then you won’t expect anything good to happen. Then IT will.

Geeze. It’s a simple concept. Give up ALL HOPE, and THEN you can be happy!

My mom always used to tell me “Love comes like a thief in the night”

  3. Darcie Says:

@jeremy- so I should lower all expectations, then they will be met/exceeded? Good point. Thanks for the advice.

Oh Darcie, I was just talking with one of my closest friends yesterday about the fact that I’m planning on going on a dating hiatus (at least for the rest of 2009) and she’s like “Oh good, he’ll come along because you aren’t looking…” - huh? For a start, dating hiatus means no dating for a month full stop and also shows our different expectations I guess. Mr. Right will come along when he’s good and ready, whether i’m out there dating or taking a break.

  5. Darcie Says:

Ha ha…it’s true…it’ll happen when it happens, expecting it or not.

@franca - dressed in black with no sense of morals?

  7. Steven Says:

Well Jeremy…That’s not completely true you know. Sometimes I do dress in colours other than black. Charcoal and light grey suits are really quite nice to wear to a night of thievery, if you know what I mean.

Oh girl you’re singing my tune… I can’t stand hearing that. Check this one out: “Why don’t you go get a part time job somewhere so you can get out of the house and meet people?”

There, I just voided out Jeremy’s statement. I DON’T go anywhere. And I’m still terminally single, like cancer.

  9. Darcie Says:

I like the sound of becoming a recluse to get guys. But then again, I AM expecting a really hot firefighter to come and bang down my door. Wait, if I start my house on fire on purpose, does that mean I’m trying?
